Your comment post should be at least 270 words this week due Thursday by 11:59 pm and you will be responsible for responding (respectfully) to one of your classmates in at least a one paragraph reply entries by Sunday at 11:59 pm.

Use the picture as inspiration to answer the following questions

-How would you design your ideal school building?

-What would the classrooms, common areas and outdoor spaces look like? What kinds of resources would you provide? How would your design promote communication and collaboration, stimulate creativity, foster well-being and maximize learning potential for everyone?

  1. How I would design my school building is the bricks first. Then I would move to the inside and paint all of the walls blue after building them out of sheetrock. Then I would put tables in all of the classrooms. I would then out white tile on all of the floors in the classrooms. I would make a dry erase wall for all of the teachers with a desk near it made out of wood. Then I would add the light blue ceiling to all of the rooms. All of the hallways would be big with hard wood floors. Then they would have walls made out of brick painted blue because that is the school color. Then I would make the dark blue lockers open ny students putting their thumb on the panel like a phone, then the locker door would open. In the hallways I would also arrange everything by ones. So, in either the math, science, language arts, or World history hallway, it would be labeled 1,2,3,4, etc. I would also provide water fountains with clean, cold water. No led in the water. Also, there would be bathrooms with 4 stalls. Another thing is that I would provide air conditioning in the gym at all times, along with the classrooms in the summer. In the winter, I would provide heat in all of the classrooms. Lastly, I will let the kids ride to and out of the school in blue buses. The reasoning for blue buses is so the county can tell the difference to which school it is. All of the other schools have yellow buses, and I would want my school to be the only school with blue buses. That way the students can tell that it is a bus to there school and not any of the other schools in the county.

    1. That is very cool and if you could design the school i would make my kids go there. This is an awesome idea and you should try and get it made. The buses I think a school already does that somewhere else but all in all this was a great blog.

    1. i agree making something look cool and new with make the students focus on the building more than their work.We should have an old run down school

  3. I agree with not making a futuristic school because it is too complicated. Especially, I would make the schools clean like you said. It is gross to have a dirty school, kids wouldn't want to come anymore. Also,I agree with you having better technology. Kids can;t do work on the computer if the computer is lacking, turning off, things like that. So, I like the idea that you have for your school.

  4. I would design my school to kinda be like central. With the gyms they're would be two of them one for freshmen and one for sophomore, junior, and seniors. The smaller gym would obviously be for freshmen but we would have air conditioning inside just as well as the bigger gym that is for the sophomore, junior, and seniors. For the locker rooms they're gonna be six locker rooms three at each. Meaning they're a boys locker room, a girls locker room, and one locker room for transgenders. Inside all locker rooms there are plenty of lockers so everyone has their own. In the transgender locker room they're will be changing rooms for privacy reasons depending on which gender there wanting to change to. There will be no bathrooms in boys or girls locker room because people need to change without hogging the bathrooms up. Bathrooms will be in hallway next to gyms. There will be two nurses offices one near the gyms so if someone gets hurt they are close and then one in the middle of the school so it's closer to most classrooms.
There will be english, math, science, and history wings. The breezeway will be in between buildings which will make the gym building and the other building connect. Office and guidance will be near main entrance where parents will walk in to sign in or out there kid. Lunchroom will be connected to the breezeway also. In classrooms it will be how they are in regular classrooms now. Different languages and electives will be in the same building near the gyms. Special ed classes will be near the offices so they're not so close to loud places like the lunchroom and the gyms so they can concentrate and not worry about things around them. There will be special classes for people who speak a language and don't know any english or only some english so they can learn at their own pace and understand our language easier. Vending machines will be in common areas they can be used whenever ones will have drinks and others will have snacks. For outside spots they will be the same like tennis court, track, etc. If people wanna eat outside there will be separate sections for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

  5. If i had the chance to design a school my school would be a 3 story building. I would have 309 rooms. When you walk go the front entrance there would be a big glass window with 2 double doors on each side. AS you walk through the first hallway you will see the first gym were the younger kids go. And past that would be the cafeteria. On the opposite side would be language classes. And in the center of the building would be an open court yard where students could study or eat lunch. Inside the courtyard there would be a garden where the cooking class gets there fruits, vegetables and herbs from. On the back side of the yard would be the library that was 2 floors high. The 2nd floor would mostly be math and History classes with 2 computer centers and the 2nd part of the library. On the very top floor would be the english classes and science labs. With emergency exits. From there you can go onto the roof and there is grass areas and a small pond that the science classes use to learn about water life. Around the top of the roof will be glass wall that overlooks the football field and other sports fields. The outside of the building would be mostly brick besides the outside of the gym. All the walls would be painted blue and yellow. The floor would be all tile. In the basement i would have the art rooms music room and the stage. When you arrive in the parking lot there is a small building where students do drivers ed. And there is a garage attached to the building where the cars go. I would have 5 english teachers, 5 math teachers, 3 history, 3 science, and 6 gym teachers. The art class would be ran by the seniors in that class.

  6. My highschool would look like a very cool school but not too futuristic because it takes the whole learning feel of the school.I would make like this school but more clean and a lot newer because this school looks cool and all but i think the history and LA areas need to be remodeled. We also need to put a area that we can sit down and relax because the breeze is just not big enough in our school so I would make a gym sized lounge where 152 students can go too hang out because that will be one period all 4 MP and for all Four years they are at the high school. Another addition I would do too my school is I would add a cafeteria that makes really good food and not that store bought frozen food.

A common area such as the breeze way would have a lot of food and maybe a couple of cool games on a flat screen but that would only be for lunch and for the kids who keep ninety-five and higher for the first MP. They should also have no bad record on their report card and be a student who has gotten honor rule before they went too high school. The classroom would look like a generic classroom just better technology and maybe some fun things that can be brought in and taken out with ease. The outside would look very beautiful because there would be a massive garden spelling the name of the school out and then a nice arched gate with a fountain in the middle before you walk up the stairs to go into the school.

    1. i like your school idea of the breeze way, that's sorta the same way as my secret room for people who have free periods. your school idea is nice and people that go there will have fun at that school.

  7. I would design my school to be 4 floors. First floor for the freshman, second for the sophomore , third for the juniors , and fourth for the seiners. I would do this because I wouldn't want drama with the freshman coming in getting picked on by all the upperclassmen. I would have 2 cafeterias, one for the juniors and seniors , and the other one for freshmen and sophomores. Also, i would have three gyms, freshman gym, sophomore gym, and a gym for the juniors and seniors. There will be over 400 rooms. In the hallways there will be signs on the wall telling you what direction to go in to get to your next classes. Each room will have two white boards , a projector, and a tv in the corner of the room, so if any important news come on we can put it there. The walls woulnt be brick, the walls would be wood, and and have nice marble flooring.
The kids would love coming to school. If you have a free period there will be a room with multiple tvs, couches, vending machines and a coffee shop . the kids will love it, But all students must still follow school rules or there would be consequences. The detention room and iss rooms will have no windows and brick walls. All projectors and technology will be all caught up. Each teacher will have their own learning style. There will be no slacking in the class you are in. if you are smart you will go to A -track, if you're decent you will go to B-track, if you're failing all classes you will go to resources which is like extra help in each class, meaning there will be a extra teach or two in there to help you out. My school would be a good school to have fun and also learn.

  8. If I were to decorate my own school building I would design is with things I like. Most of the school will have things to do with basketball and all the other sports. I would have my office and the main office decorated with all the teams in the NBA. I would even have all the college basketball teams. I would make sure that every kid in the school had what they need for every class. The classrooms will have what everyone likes. I wouldn’t have desks I would have tables in every class. My school would look old but new on the inside. There would be an upstairs and a down stairs. We wouldn’t have to take hard test. We will have all the subjects; math, English, science, history, gym, and electives. Everyone will be to choose what class they want to be on based on their level. There will be teachers in every class. The students will have their own MacBook’s for school and home. They will get to keep the MacBook’s every year and when they graduate. There will be google classroom, math xl, and other websites used to help teach classes. The school will take math 2 marking periods and then will take English the last 2 marking periods. Gym will be every day and the kids will get to choose the activity that they want to play that day. Rules will be there but not as strict. There will be an area outside where you can eat lunch. There will also be areas outside that you can use to get to another class. I will have every sport available to boys and girls allowing them to do what they like. In my school everyone will be able to feel safe and happy.

  9. My ideal school building would be a modern high school. I would pick a modern school because old school is too little and future is to much.    The classrooms would look like tables with two people a board and a projector for people who need to see things more clearly. I would have common areas such as a library to read books and relax during study hall, A lunch room, and something like what we have like a breeze way. The outdoor spaces would be some benches and fields for gym classes. I would have our gym with air conditioning unlike our central freshman gym. The resources that i would provide would be common resources that most schools have. For math a calculator and a book, For classes like english and history a book and a chrome book. My design would promote communication because every sport is available for boys and girls. Being creative because if you can get enough people to join your club you can make your own. Just so everyone can foster well being there is a 5 minutes in between periods so you can talk with your friends and have enough time to get ready for the next class. I can maximize the learning potential for every track. Simply by having certain days for notes, quizzes, labs, fun activities, and tests. There will be no phones allowed in class time because phones are the number one distraction for us teenagers. If we are not distracted  we can concentrate more on the class instead of being on our phone so then we don't have to ask where we are or be behind.

  10. I would design my school similar to central. I would do this because I like the setup to it. I would have two gyms and I would also have hallways to determine the subject. So there will be a hallway just for math and a hallway just for language arts. I would also combine the football field with a track that would surround it by 1000 meters. I want to build it close to the middle school of the district. I think I would like the size and shape to look like Central Regional High Schools. I think that the layout would look a lot smoother if it looked like that. A good size baseball and soccer field would also be very nice.
The classrooms I think should be a little more modern with new textbooks. The classrooms should be a good size so that nothing is cramped and you have a lot of free room. Even though it could be expensive I think everyone room should have a full classroom set of chromebooks for students a projector for the teacher. For promoting collaboration outside of school I would push for as much clubs as possible. I would like a huge selection to the school's library so that a student can get his fill of reading because we all know that is very important. As a said before I would like two gyms. One gym for just the freshmen and then the other gym for the upperclassmen. The setup of my school would be very similar to central’s setup. I like it a lot so I would keep it going.

  11. I agree with Zach on how I would design my school. I think the track and football field are fine the way they are. I also would make the classrooms more up to date because technology is moving fast. We would get new textbooks and new computers to make it more modern.

  12. My ideal school building would look nothing like central. I would design it so that there would be three floors with bright colors unlike here and it would look modern and not old. There would be bigger and better lockers, classrooms and very cool common areas. I would make the school a positive atmosphere that way students would want to come to school and not dread going everyday. There would be more than enough resources for every subject and classrooms would be filled with everything it needs for the year. Common areas although would look like somewhat how central’s “breezeway” looks. It would be accessible to all grades to eat, socialize during the bell and possibly another section for academics. Where you could possibly take a test you were absent for instead of putting students into other classes disrupting another lesson. Student's locker location would also be determined by where the majority of their classes are. I know that where my locker is is a huge inconvenience because only one of my classes are near it and the rest are practically on the other side of the school which causes me to be late if I forget anything or makes me miss class time going in the middle of class. School would start at around the same time central starts and end at the same time as well. I wouldn’t give students detention for being late because in my opinion everybody is late once in awhile at least they made the effort to go at all. The only way there would be a detention given is if a student is being disrespectful to an authority figure like a teacher and if being late becomes a habit like more that twice a week. Also suspensions would not be 10 days, I understand that the student obviously did something wrong but in my opinion they don’t deserve there education taken away for that long. This is my ideal school
