Use the picture as inspiration to answer the following questions

-How would you design your ideal school building?

-What would the classrooms, common areas and outdoor spaces look like? What kinds of resources would you provide? How would your design promote communication and collaboration, stimulate creativity, foster well-being and maximize learning potential for everyone?

  1. The ideal school classrooms that are more high tech because I most students at this point are used to it by now. The classrooms would have a little more room so everyone can have more space, to move around and breathe and have more room for hands on activities in the classroom! I think that every student should get a chromebook, or just maybe their own personal Ipad so its more easy to get their work done on time, and maybe stay organized a little better. Also, I would like students to have more comfortable chairs, and desks/ tables so everyone can feel comfortable. For the teachers they would either have the option to use the white or chalk board, or projectors. I would want the school to be two stories and students will have the option to use the elevator or escalators. There will be separate classrooms for students that would need extra help and teachers that are so helpful so students would feel more safe. For the library, I would switch the books to like just tablets so anyone can be able to search up to any type of book and if they need to sign a tablet out, they would have to return it the next week. Also, I would have a much like bigger coffee shop so if anytime during the day anyone gets hungry, they can just get a snack. Also, I would put in comfortable couches, chairs, and a big Television for students to feel comfortable during study hall or just to chill. I will make sure all bathroom are big enough for enough girls to go, with a large mirror in there and for all bathrooms to be clean everyday. For gyms, I would want all freshmen, sophomore, juniors, and seniors to have their own. I will also want the gym and locker rooms to be big so everyone could get their own locker and be able to leave their gym stuff in there. I would want the hallways to have more space and larger and nicer lockers that will just let you scan your ID card and it will open up so it can be easier and faster. For outside, every sport will get their own space and like a nicer place. Lastly, for the cafeteria, Everything will be much larger and better food. Also there will be sections for everything for like snacks, food, drinks and candy.

    1. I agree that schools should be more high tech. Your response was really good. I like the part about how if a student needs more help they can get it by getting taught by teachers that are more suited for them. Also, who wouldnt want a bigger nicer cafeteria with better food.

  2. If i was to design my own ideal school based off of my experiences with school. To start i would change how the schedules are set up. I would definitely give more time between classes, i wouldn't give a lot more time only like a minute more. We have 4 minutes between classes but i would give 5 minutes. I would make lunch periods longer because 25 minutes is not enough time to get from your class, to lunch and have time to buy lunch and sit down and finish eating. By the time you get to lunch there is a long line so it is hard to get in and out quickly. Usually by the time you sit down you have like 5 to 10 minutes to eat. I also would make sure all of the teachers are nice, and are understanding. Classes would be looked at differently, if you are in A track you should be able to move at a fast pace, and if you are in B track or basic skills you need to move slower with it and find another way to understand it because it is harder for you to understand. I would make the schools start a little later, and i would make sure that there is options if you want to take morning classes or night classes. If it was morning classes they would start a little later than schools normally start, probably around 8 o'clock. There would be nothing but positive attitudes, if there was a fight i wouldn't give both kids both 10 days of suspension. I would give the kid who started it 10 days of suspension, but if you were just using self defense i would give you 3 days of in school suspension. I would keep the building the same way as my school and i would have sections of every subject just like central does. So there isn't much i would change about schools besides the timings of everything.

    1. I completely agree with your idea. Like yes, I do think that students should get more time to get to their classes because central doesn't give us enough time. I also agree about changing the amount of time in our lunch period.

    2. Yea, could you imagine no lunch or gym just enlish math an elective. Or something but than we go Home after like 2 hours

    3. i would like your school. Your school sounds like it would make kids succeed in there high school education. I truly think that the timing of your day in school is a huge factor on how you learn and strive in school. i also agree with the adding of time towards our lunch period because that should be the time we talk and relax our brains from class.

I would design my ideal school building with high tech providing chromebooks for each class, they will be sharing the chromebooks with other students, they will also be provided a user and passcode to be able to login. There will be elevators of course. The hallways will be a lot wider so students can get to their classes faster and safer instead of bumping into each other. I want my school to be fun and full of positivity but also for students to be excited to come to school. Each student will be treated equally and respectfully. I want to make sure my students are comfortable and safe. Id make sure they serve good and better food, I would let everyone get to sit with whomever they'd like. The lunch time would be longer because 25 minutes isn't enough to sit down and eat, because once you get there there's already a long line. There will be a lounge where students can stop by at anytime to buy food or beverages. I would make sure there is enough time to get to your classes which will be change to 5 minutes. On the outside of my building there will be nice green grass everywhere with benches where students can sit. I would make sure there are good understandable teachers. There would be day classes from 7-2 and afternoon classes that start 2:30 - 7. For kids who are in study hall i would let them leave early if they’d like, but students who are in study hall for a medical reason they are also allowed to leave early as well, but they are responsible for their work. Instead of giving them an essay and three articles to do every week they will be given 3 worksheets about a sport or health every Monday and should be turned in on Friday.

    1. i completely agree with you. we need more space in the hallways so we can get to our classes easier. lunch periods definitely need more time too,and the option of afternoon classes is also a really good idea.

  4. How I would design the school building is that the classrooms would be more modern with upgraded tvs and with a smartboard where the teacher would use it to be more fun. The chairs would be actually comfortable and not ugly or hurting you leaving back problems. Now for the cafeteria, it will have better food because most of the time it will make you feel nauseous. There will be anything else that is better than what we have now. Also the will be two make your own sandwich stations then two because the line for one is way too long. Also the table will be rounded like the junior and seniors. Also luches would be like 30 minutes instead of 25 minutes. So no more of any random people sitting at your tables. Also we have to fix the history wing it looks old and needs to look like more of the math wing. Also all the textbooks would be updated. The breezeway would be bigger because too many just stand there not doing anything and I need to go by so we make it bigger. Also the four corners would be like the breezeway since it is really hard to turn right or left or even go straight so we fix it.Also lets talk about the rules. If you’re late 5 times you get lunch detention. Also if you are absent more than 25 times than you fail not 18. Also school starts at 7:30 not 7:45. If you can get up before 7:45 you can get out at 7:30.Everyone would hate it but I wouldn’t care. We would get out of school at 1:30. We have 4 minutes between classes but i would give 5 minutes. Also the teachers would be really easy for b track so they could move up but get harder when moving up in the tracks. Another thing is that there would more study for more students if they are in higher tracks so they could get their homework done.

    1. I agree with you. THis school should be modernize. There a lot of old stuff like TVs and most of the hallways look so old. They should definitely more time for lunches because students need more time to finish their food and I always see them just throwing them out and wasting it. They should extend the absent days because if students get sick, they would infect other students cause they don’t have enough absent days.

  5. In this case I do not know how design a building. I will design big enough that it will be comfortable for the students. To walk and not be going to` each class all smuch in with other people. School classrooms should be big enough to fit the students in each class. The school need to have a good view to people could say wow this school looks good I can not wait to go inside and see the rest. The school should have extra classes that people are interesting in doing. The school should that to make it more fun during the whole school year for the students. Yes! communication is so important in a school. The superior staff saying something about the dress code ok, I am just curious some people follow the rules and they say something to the ones who follow the rules but the do not say nothing to the ones who do not follow anything. For me the most important thing is the education no matter how the school looks like.

    1. I agree with you, but i don't think a classroom as to be very big for a child learning. A person can focus very well on their education but they have to put in effort. I like what you wrote about the view. Great designs alway catch peoples eyes, and dress codes is very important even though most people don't follow it

  6. How would you design your ideal school building? I would design my ideal school building, first by creating a plan that i know would work out. Like getting a platform of how i would set it up and how the outcome will look. In my own imagination, my ideal school will be public and open for everyone. It would have classes that children can be comfortable taking like a requirement. A ideal school should be a place when children graduates, they can say that they learn something or the school should left an impact on them. There will be a lot of resources provided like, computer, tv, books, independent and guided readers, writing programs, etc. My design will promote communication and collaboration by physically opening the doors and encouraging the environment and having clearly communication by working together. The learning potential of students is encourage them and grab their attention and focus by motivating them to do better and increase the opportunities for student engagement in learning.

    1. I agreed 100% on your idea students should have a good habitat to study. Programs that will attract attention to them.

  7. I have many ideas for the ideal high school. I think that it would be more modern with computers for every student so you wouldn't have to have textbooks. Also all your homework would be on the computers so this way students wouldn't have the excuse they lost their homework plus it would be less paper. I think there should be more hands on learning to make learning more interesting. I think there should be different levels of learning. Everyone learns at a different pace. I think the classrooms should be more comfortable. Different desks and chairs. The science rooms will have science stuff so we could do more labs. With lunch time I would make it a little bit longer to give people time to eat. There is no time between getting there and waiting in line. I would also give more time between classes. This way the student doesn't feel rushed. I hardly use my locker because there isn't enough time between classes. One more thing I would change is the library. I would make it a more comfortable environment where students would feel more welcome to study. Hopefully all of these changes would want more students to like school and not get bored like I do.

  8. If I could design my own school building the school would be the coolest building ever. It would look super unique. I wouldn’t try to make the school look like all the others I would use real colors on all the walls and floors and ceilings not just bland boring paint. So everywhere you looked would be cool and interesting. I would have super rad murals painted everywhere too. All of the resources in the school would be super nice, for example I would put smart boards in all of the class rooms and there would be huge tvs in all the rooms, and all the students there will have access to whatever technology they need for their classes. Also, classes would be smaller and more individualised for each student depending on how they learn best. If a student is a visual learner then they will be in a class meant to teach to people that are visual learners and visa versa for people that are auditory learners. It will be less focused on homework and due dates and more focused on if the students are comprehending what they are learning and benefiting from the knowledge that they are receiving. So that way students won’t learn about useless things that they will never use. They will learn about real thing that they will use or things that will affect their lives. Also, everyday everyone would get a lunch hour where u can eat lunch or leave if u have a car or pretty much do whatever you want to do during your lunch hour. Next, There will be a huge outdoor space that is like a park where there's trees and a pond and grass where students can go to hangout when they have free time. All of the arts programs will have anything and everything they need so students can pursue art or woodshop or anything they want to do. The sports facilities will also have everything that they need for all of the sports that are at the school, and there will be every sport that there is for students to play. The food choices will be insane there will be actual cooks making food for breakfast and lunch every day, not just frozen food that people defrost. That's what a school I designed would be like.

    1. I love your idea of your new school. I think that students would like to go to that school that offers a lot of things to do. I think more students would succeed.

  9. I would design my ideal school building by making it high techs, changing school lunches, and changing the schedules. My school can become more high tech by giving them tablets so they would not have to use a notebook. I can also make the school to be high tech by strengthen the security. I can do that by putting a fingerprint scanner that students need to scan their finger to access the door instead of having an ID. I would design my ideal school building by changing school lunches. I can change school lunches by adding a restaurant like Mcdonald’s or Starbucks. I would also adjust lunch time so students would have time to eat. I would design my ideal school building by changing the schedule. I would give more day offs for students so they can stay focused in school and they would not fall asleep. My design would promote communication and collaboration, stimulate creativity, foster well-being and maximize learning potential for everyone by telling the students to study harder and get them involved in a club that would help them find friends. I would also kick a student out of the school if they bully or harass another student.

    1. i agree very much with your ideas for your ideal school but i don't agree with putting Mcdonalds in a school because many students will gain a lot of weight and we would try to prevent that and put something more healthier.

      Delete
    2. Also with Steven on this one, I agree with most things but the McDonald’s is horrible since people will get overweight. Also I think kicking out a person because of bullying it a bit to strong I think that they should say that they are sorry and get punished for it.
Another thing is that giving more time off is the opposite of letting them for us because it will give them time to forget the material with out practice

  10. How would you design your ideal school building? I would make the school big and a lot of places to relax and calm down for a moment like outdoor activities because school can get stress full with all the stuff we have to do as students. I will also try to keep the school more up to date and improve have more high tech stuff. I will have a very nice lunchroom and good food that kids will not regurgitate.
-What would the classrooms, common areas and outdoor spaces look like? What kinds of resources would you provide? How would your design promote communication and collaboration, stimulate creativity, foster well-being and maximize learning potential for everyone? Classrooms will be more high tech and modern students would be using tablets and stuff to do there work and more comfortable chairs because the ones students use right are garbage and you really don't do your best when you aren't comfy. Outdoor areas will have like hammocks and gardens to relax and smell fresh air and have couple of ponds filled with colorful fish to stimulate creativity.

  11. The school building i would design would be less classrooms and more outside. I would say twenty classrooms all together. The rest of the school i would put outside. The classroom layout would be easy. No books at all. I would only have computers inside. Tablets and chromebooks outside. The students would be able to use the chromebook/tablet for the year and give them back. The hallways would have no lockers. They won’t need them because everything is on flash drives. There will be a breeze way type area. Anyone can eat lunch there, outside or in the cafeteria. Outside the school will be greenhouses, and pavilions. The classes outside will be under the pavilion and activities will be where it needs to be. Having the classes outside will allow science labs being worked to be involving the weather. For Communication everyone will be the internet so they can talk over it.
