TIME TRAVEL TO THE 20’S
Your family just
moved into a creepy old mansion. One day, while you’re trying to do your Great Gatsby reading for school you hear
music from down the hall. You put your copy of Gatsby into your jacket pocket and go to investigate the sound. You
find a room at the end of the hall with an hourglass on the door and the
old-timey music sounds like it’s coming from behind the door.
When you open the
door, you step through a bright light and suddenly everything is different. The
door that you just stepped through is gone and there’s a calendar on the wall
that says that the year is 1924. You can’t go back home through the door and
your only choice is to go outside and build a new life. Write a story about the
new kind of life that you’ll have to live.
Questions to
consider: How will you dress, can you get a job/what kind of job would you get,
what kind of car will you drive, will you get married and have a family, what
will you do for fun?
Your story must
include details about life in the 1920’s based on what you’ve learned about the
time period. Must be a minimum of 4-5 paragraphs. No comment on a classmates
post is required.
My new life would be turned into the gatsby i would become the richest stock market holder. My life would turn into what it was already heading towards because for me there is no other path to take i swear on everything i will have money to live a simple life but i will not lose my family and the people that gave me the power to push myself and put enough hard work and effort to want those riches and to go out and get what i am destined for.
ReplyDeletelife in the 1920s were a lot of different than now. it was a lot cheaper than nowdays and also people were a lot nicer than now days. i think the living of the 1920s were cool because the people, the way they dress and also the feeling of living.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all its, "nowadays". Second, people then were bad if not worse than today, because people were always were drunk off their rockers.They also had no respect for anyone especially women!
DeleteIf i had to start a new life automatically , i would want to dress nicely. And wear suits and fit in with the people of that time period. I would also want to drive a nice car and have a job owning some kind of business and be someones boss. I would get married and have a family and i would hopefully be wealthy enough to support all of them easily. For fun id spend time drivng nice cars and going fishing.Also since it was big around this time period go to jazz clubs at night. Being a mafia member would be cool in this time period cause they kinda ran the town or the area they lived in. I would not mind living in this time period because it is most likely better than right now in 2018. There would be less drama to deal with and more just living the life like they did in the movie Great Gatsby.
ReplyDeleteAs i walk outside everything is weird . the cars are different, the roads how everyone is dressed and etc. but i guess i have to live with it. So i stood the same way. I brought my fashion style to the 1920s . im different then all the others . little does everyone know im from the future and pretty much know everything that is going to happen over the years.
ReplyDeleteNo one believe me that im from the future. And no one respects me because they are thinking that i am lying when im not . so i go to president hoover and have a conversation . he believes me because i have the proof of the great gastby book. He gives me a job with scientist and i was making good money because of everything i know and all the inventions i had created that were from the future. I mean im messing up the future but i have to do what i have to do.
One day just walking i saw this girl and she was attractive. So i went to talk to her and she actually believed everything i was saying. She believed the life i use to live. So after a couple months of us talking and getting to know each other we started dating. The money i had i bought a car and a house. And we made a living together. And we lived happily ever after had got married and had two kids.
After stepping through the door into the 1920’s, life will be extremely different. My clothes will change along with my hairstyles. Finding a job, paying for a car, and most importantly, starting a family. Life was a lot different then. Now we have all sorts of technology. Back in the 1920’s, people didn’t really have that.
ReplyDeleteTo start, I’d probably get a job as a seamstress making flashy flapper dresses. I don’t may jobs in the 1920’s, but that’s what I learned in history. I’d be making them for female party goers or dancers. For clothes, I’d wear simple house dresses. Dresses that are made out of thick black cotton. I would want to stay comfortable. If it were a night out, I’d wear a more formal dress.
For a car, I’d drive any car there was at the time. I know there weren’t many choices because cars weren’t that big then, until someone had made them. Aside from all of this, I think I’d be pretty concerned and scared about the mobs. I wouldn’t want to get tangled in that mess.
Lastly, I’d like to get married and start a family. I wouldn’t want to be lonely through life in the 1920’s. I’d also want someone to help out with money, jobs, and regular house care.
If i got sent to the past, and was the same person i would completely start a new life. I would try not to think about the future. I would probably become a farmer. I like doing yard work so that's something i would do.
ReplyDeleteI would like to find a girl to marry and start a family but that wouldn't be my main concern. I would focus more on my new life and the new job i would have. I would do everything i couldn't do today. It would be nice to have a family to accompany with my new journey. I would need to make new friends for the moral support. It would be weird at first but i think i could do it.
I would probably drive a model t because those were common nice cars back then. I would have to work first to get one. I would probably ride a bike until i could afford one. The value of money is different from then to now. If i had money in my pocket would it transfer if so i would be able to eat for a couple nights. If not how would i eat.
That is my story/plan if i went back to the 1920’s i hope you enjoy.
If i were to live in the 1920s i think that it completely would be different but i still would want to. To start off, i think that my clothing would be so much different because I think that fashion has changed so much from now to back then. I think that during that time period, i would be wearing more fancier or wearing dresses like every day. As of the drive I want to drive, It doesnt really matter to me because i dont think cars were like a big thing back then but there were some nice ones still so I would want a good decent one that would last long for me. For a job, I would want to save up to own some type of business that could be very popular back then that can help out people and families. I would want to get married and start a family because I wouldnt be able to see myself doing all this alone and would want someone to help me with everything I try to accomplish. For fun, I would walk to walk around the town or city where ever I am to just get to know what its like to live back then. I would also want to help out families and people and need because even though I heard everything was like easy and cheaper back then, I think there would still be people out there that would need help.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to start a new life in the 20’s it would be so different from now. The way i would dress is the same as the other people because i would want to fit in and not make myself look so different and they would know that i would be new. I would wear the dresses that would be trending at the time. The job would be easy because your family can own a little shop in town. There was mostly shops or businesses around that time. So if your family had a store you would not be having to think about where you are going to work. Since cars really were not a big thing back then, i think i would be walking most of the time. Back then marriage was like a big thing and having a family. Like back then it did not seem that they had things such as divorce, they had extremely strong feelings for the person and somehow people knew that they were the one. I would have a family because is ike a good thing. For fun i would go and and see things that i would have seen before for example if I did not go out a lot i can go walk around or go to the cities and meet up with friends.
