  1. Dr. Suess once said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter” means that you don’t have to act or say different things than you usually do because the ones who don’t care are the ones that are your friends and the ones that do care, are the ones that aren’t your friends. For example, if you need to act a certain way to be friends with someone, they aren’t your true friend. True friends are there for you through thick and thin. They will see the worst and the best parts of you. If you have to be someone you aren’t, then how can you trust that your other friend is being true to themselves too. You don’t want to have a friendship with a facade over it. You should be friends with someone who will stand by you and be there for you when you need someone the most. Someone you can be yourself with and count on and can tell all your secrets to. In conclusion, always be yourself with all of your friends. If they care about the way you act or the way you look or dress, then they actually your friend. Be true to yourself no matter who it is.

    1. I agree with you a lot. Just because somebody said that you are 'wierd' or you're different, shouldn't mean you have to change. And that's exactly what this quote said. I also feel the same on trust. How can you trust somebody that doesn't even accept you for you? What if they aren't acting 'them'? No friendship should ever be faked.

    2. I one hundred percent agree with you. This is basically what I said in mine. True friends are the people who want to hear what you have to say and you shouldn't feel the need to second guess yourself when you are going to say it. You shouldn't have to change how you act and think just to get a fake friend. What is the point in that?

      Delete
  2. I think the quote is saying to always be yourself. The quote is telling you that you should always be yourself because the people who matter aren’t going to care if you do it or not. When there's people who do care about what you say and how you act shouldn’t matter to you. Just be who you want to be and don’t pay attention to the people who want to change you. An event happened to this in my life one time. I used to have a friend who wanted me to act just like them and do whatever they did. I didn’t want to change myself to fit their definition of perfect. I stayed true to myself and continued to be myself. So you should never change because someone else told you to. Their opinion shouldn’t matter to you so always stay true to you.

    1. I agree with you Sam. You should always stay true to yourself and always continue to be yourself. You should never have to change the real you. If they make you change, then you never feel comfortable around others. Always act like yourself, because your loved ones already love the real you.

    2. Sam I agree with you and that you must say to yourself. I think its great that you stayed true to yourself when you friend wanted you to change, and I'm sure everyone else in your life likes that you didn't change.

    3. Sam, I completely agree with you. It's good that you dropped that friend and that you are happy. People shouldn't be able to be changed by others and should stay true to themselves. Never be someone you're not just to try and fit in.

  3. Dr.Seuss once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who don't matter don't mind and those who don't mind don't matter” I believe the quote means, to live like no one is there to judge you. The people who are there to judge do not matter, and the ones who are with you in the moment are there to have fun. I feel that it refers to people with anxiety and self conscious people because they feel as if everybody is watching. They feel as if everything is limited and if they do something wrong everyone is going to laugh at them. The definition of anxiety is “a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.” Everybody has anxiety once in awhile and just feel as if they're gonna do something wrong and everybody's gonna think they're a loser. Dr.Seuss is saying to not let people's thoughts limit you and that the people you fear and do limit you do not matter. There will be people who will stand by you and support you through everything and those are the people who do matter. Live your live and make the most of it, you only have one.

    2. I agree with Danielle’s response to the quote. You should never judge someone because they do something differently from you. Also, I agree with her response about how some kids get anxiety and how it keeps people from doing what they want. Never let people stop you from doing something that you love to do.

  4. This quote was once said by Dr. Suess, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” This quote means to speak freely and feel how you want to feel and your real friends and family won’t mind. However, your non real friends will mind if you speak your mind and be your true self. This one girl named Rosie believed that being gay was wrong; however, Rosie’s best-friend kelsey thought that being gay wasn’t a big deal as long as you were your true self. Rosie thought that kelsey opinion was wrong and would judge her on it even though they were best friends. However, Kelsey never once judged Rosies opinion she thought that everybody should be able to speak their mind. Long story short they weren’t best-friends after that since, Rosie couldn’t deal with Kelsey’s opinion.. All in all, everybody’s aloud to have different opinions on a topic but you can’t judge them on it, in Dr. Suess wise words“...those who mind don’t matter.”

    1. Tori, i completely agree with you. You should be able to speak freely without being judged. Your anecdote fit the quotes perfectly. I completely agree that everyone is aloud to have different opinions on a topic, and that they shouldn't be judged.

  5. Dr. Suess once said a very wise quote: “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter dont mind and those who mind dont matter.” I think this quote means that you can say your opinion on something. Also, that you should be yourself and not try to do/say something just because someone else did. If your friends don't care and don't judge your opinion, they are important. If someone else cares and then they judge you, then they aren't important. For example, if you wore something really ugly and you thought it was nice, the people who say something bad, aren't important. This quote can also have something to do with your family or your friends. If you say something, your family wont judge you. Then if you say the same thing to your friends, they might judge you. Also, you can take this quote a different way. If you see someone getting bullied, and you don't say something, then you won't matter. Then, if you do say something, you matter. I agree and disagree with this quote, depending on the situation. So, basically I think he means be yourself and say what you wanna say, because the people that matter in your life dont care. Then, the people who care dont need to be in your life.

    1. Brianna i completely agree with you. I feel like the way you described what you thought the quote ment, is the way i looked the quote.I agree that your friends shouldn't judge you on your style of clothes you wear just because, it’s different from what they would wear. To conclude, your position was really good and i totally agree with you on the bullying if you say something and stand up for the person you matter.

    2. Brianna I completely agree with what you said. People today think that just because someone else thinks that something is cool and funny that they should do it too, so they could be cool or funny. You should never do something that would get you in trouble, just because you think a group of your friends thinks it’s cool. I also believe the same as you when you say that your true friends won’t care what you look like or how you dress. The people who do care aren’t your real friends. Another reason i agree with you, is that I believe that bullying is a big part, when people don’t stand up and say how they feel. No one should ever have to be afraid to say something.

  6. The quote “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter” by Dr. Seuss means that your true friends are the ones who like you just the way you are. Your friends are the ones who enjoy what you say and who you are. The people who don’t like you, or people who are bothered or disturbed by you, are the ones who don’t matter, which means you shouldn’t be friends with them. For example, say that you just made new friends with a group of people in school by acting like them to make a good first impression. You think they are the perfect group of friends after spending the first fews days with them having a blast. However, you start to act more like yourself on the fourth day. They begin to get annoyed at you and give you dirty looks to warn you to stop acting that way. You then realize that these people mind the things you do, and they aren’t people you can trust and stay friends with. You get upset, and become gloomy for the rest of the school day. Once school ends, your best friend sees you on the bus with a glum look. He realizes something is wrong, and cheers you up by telling you some jokes and playing some games. You’re finally all cheered up and start acting like yourself again, and that is the reason why your best friend became friends with you. You should always act like yourself and say what you want. You shouldn’t become friends with people that will make you change your character. Just be yourself, because there will be someone who enjoys how you act or what you say, and they are the one who matter. Anyone who doesn’t like what you do will just make you feel uncomfortable and not as happy. So, just always be who you really are, so people can know the real you.

    1. Hunter I agree with everything you say. Your true friends and should never tell you to stop being yourself. The true friends are the people who like being yourself. Also, this quote means much more than being yourself. It also means that you should kinda express your emotions to your friends so they care about you an you caring for them. So the best thing you should always do is be yourself.

    2. Hunter I agree with you on everything you explained. You should be able to act anyway you would like in front of your true friends. You shouldn't have to hide who you are in front of them. Your friends should be there when you're at your worst and when you're at your worst. Changing your character just to be friends with someone is not the right thing to do. You should be accepted the way you are. If you have to do that, that isn true friendship.

  7. Dr. Suess has a quote that says “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” This quote means to be yourself and don’t worry about what other people think about you. First, there will always be people who will be envious of you. They will try and make you feel different about yourself and bring down your self esteem. You should never care about what they think of you, what’s important is what you feel about yourself. Always be confident in yourself because if you let what they say get to you, you are letting them win. Stand up and don't let them hurt you. Secondly, don’t be afraid to speak your mind, and stand up for what you believe. Never be afraid to stand up and say something.. There are people who use social media to hurt people or that feel the necessity to impress others. In certain situations people make comments and take pictures trying to be someone that they are not, in order to get the attention of others. Always be the best person you can be and don’t worry about impressing others, speak up and be yourself because that's the best person you could be.

    1. Alyssa, I think this was great. I completely agree with what you have had to say. I do not understand why other feel the need to take downs someone's self esteem. It will only get to them if they let it, as you had mentioned. I feel as though it is very important to stand up for yourself and be the best person you can try to be. But do it by being yourself and not someone else. We are all put under pressure, stress by being judged, but who cares if they're irreverent to your life? As Dr. Suess had said "... those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." Meaning, those who mind.. The people that are trying tear that self esteem, should most definitely not be doing that. Why must you ask? It's because they mind, and they sure as hell do not matter!

  9. Dr.Seuss once said that,” Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” What this quote means to me is, be yourself and say what you want to say. When you be yourself and say what you want to say to your friends and family, they do care for you. But if you act like another person and don’t say what you feel, nobody will care about you. In reality if you don’t speak out your emotions to a friend or family, they just think that you are ok. But inside of you, you are not ok and you are mentally hurt. I have been myself this high school year and nobody has made fun of me.
Dr.Seuss made a bunch of sense in his quote. His quote can express a lot of people in this world. I like Dr.Seuss because he was himself. He made children’s book that were the best and be used his creative mind to think. He was the most popular author for parents and children. But what my point is, express your emotions to the people you care about. Also be yourself, no one said that you have to act or dress like another, be who you want to be.

  10. Dr. Suess once said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.” This wise quote sends a strong message towards the reader. For example, some people might not accept you for being yourself or for your opinions. This obviously shows that they shouldn't matter to you and you don't matter to them, you might not realize it at first, but eventually it’ll show and you’ll soon find out. Those who matter will accept you for who you truly are. They'll be there for you when you need them most and never leave your side no matter what. I’ve had multiple friends come and go in my life and some of them were the people who minded. I quickly realized that they didn't like it when I'd be myself around them, they’d pretend to like me, I had to find out they weren't fond of me from someone else. I also realized that I was being somebody I wasn't just to be friends with them, I wasn’t truly happy as I was only kidding myself. I am who I am and I shouldn't have to change just to be accepted by someone I thought was a friend. I then found another group of friends where being myself was who I wanted and needed to be. They were there when I needed them the most and they still are. They have accepted me for who I am and have brought up my confidence and I cannot thank them enough for that. Always be yourself, because if you're not being yourself now, you’re going to regret it later. There is no greater love than loving your yourself!

    1. Gabby, I totally agree with what you said. People don’t have to pretend to be someone that they are not. People should always be themselves and their friends have to respect that. Fake friends want you to be someone you're not and will try to change you. Real friends always have your back and will stay with you through thick and thin. They will also never judge you or be mean to you and that’s key to good trust and a good friendship.

  11. Dr. Suess once said "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.” To me, this quote means that if you say what you feel, the people that care about you will understand. They will comfort you when it's needed the most. The people that don’t care about you will mind if you say something bad or mean just because you were feeling angry. In addition, you should always be yourself when you're with someone. Just because the people in your group are being mean to someone, doesn't mean that you have to be. It's better to be yourself in a friendship and not have to worry about what other people think poorly about you. Your real friends will be with you no matter what the situation is. You should never pretend to be someone that you're not just to impress a crowd or a few people. If you have to impress someone to get their attention or to make them like you, they aren't worth your time. It’s always important to be yourself no matter what and to trust that your real friends will always be there for you. Your real friends will encourage you to be yourself and embrace the way you act because they are the ones that will stick with you for a very long time.

  12. Dr. Seuss once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don’t matter” What he means by this is that the people who matter to you won’t judge you for who you are, and the people who judge you don’t matter. If someone truly cares about you they won’t care about you personality or how you look or sound, they will take you as you are and be happy about you. Nothing that someone says should affect you, because you're perfect just the way you are and nothing can change that. Dr. Suess is trying to tell you that it's okay to be different and that being unique is a good thing. This quote can be seen in life because each and every person is unique in every way possible there are people of different races, hair color, voice, hobbies, and abilities and each person is special. Dr. Suess is trying to tell you to speak up and don’t listen to what people tell you because if they can spot a flaw it you then you can spot a flaw in them. This is what I think about Dr. Seuss's quote “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter”

    2. I agree with what you said you said Troy. People should always be them selves because they could find out who their friends really are. They shouldn't care how you look or anything they should take you as you are. Real friends will always be there for you no matter how you act. Everybody has their own flaws but you should always just be yourself.

    3. I agree with you Troy. You should not change for anyone and you should always say or act how you feel is appropriate. If people have a problem with who you are then they are doing you no good anyway. You need people trying to bring you down on a regular basis. If you are truly being yourself you shouldn't care what others have to say about you. I also really like what you said about if somebody can find a flaw in you you can find a flaw in them. All in all it is a great response.

    4. Troy, i agree with your response. You must always be confident and believe in yourself. Those who matter will encourage you and accept your individuality. 13. A great author, Dr. Suess, once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” This statement is very true because people who matter in your life won’t care about who you really are or how you feel. They’ll be there for you and not judge you on your opinions or personality. The people who do judge you are just there for their own reasons and not to be a good friend. True friends would be there for you no matter what and not judge you for what you think of feel. My cousin was with a group of friends at her school and she went from being laid back to stressed about what her friends think and was being really fake. She ended up leaving that group and wasn’t stressed about everything she did anymore. That situation was very representative of Dr. Seuss’s quote. The friends who cared about what she felt and was like just caused her stress. Once she left them she felt way better because they didn’t matter. What Dr. Suess is saying is that you should stick closer to the people who won’t judge you and like you for you like family or close friends. The other people will just bring you down and your good friends will make you feel better about yourself. The friends who judge you will just make you feel self conscious about everything you do, they don’t and shouldn’t matter to you. This quote is very smart and people should listen to it a lot more.

  14. I agree 100%, Josh. Ignoring the people who judge you is the right thing to do. If you care about what fake friends are going to think about something you wear, say, or do, then you'll be stressed about what you do. But if you ignore them then you won't worry or care about what people who aren't even your real friends will think. Also, the example about homosexuals not caring what the criticizers said about them is very true. They didn't care about what millions of people said, so no one should worry about what a few people will judge you on. Just stop being around them.

  15. Dr Suess once said “ Be who you are and say what you feel because who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.” This is a very powerful qoute. It is a powerful qoute because ypu shouldnt care about what people say about you. You should be who you are. And if people don't like you who cares you should be true to you. Eminem once said “Don't let them say you ain't beautiful, they can all get ******, just stay true to you”. It means that you should just be yourself all the time and to not care about what others say. What he means when he says those who matter don't mind it means that the people who love you don't care about those things. They love you how you are, weird or normal. Another qoute is that “To be beautiful means to be yourself. You dont need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself”. You don't have to act different to impress someone to like you just because they think you're weird. You should ignore the people who don't like you and to use their hate as strength. You should live your life how you want to, not how society wants you to be. Always be yourself and don't let anyone judge you because you're “different”.

I'm happy you brought up Eminem because Eminem has great songs about being yourself, not trying to fit into other people’s shoes, and how it would take a thousand miles just to see from his perspective. I definitely agree with you on this one, and how you should always be yourself and don't let anyone judge you because you're “different”.

  17. Dr. Suess once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter”. I think this quote means that you should always be yourself no matter what. Those who matter to you won’t mind because they are your friends and they won’t care what you said. Then those who mind what you say don’t matter because they aren’t your friends. So he is saying you should always be yourself because you will find out who your real friends are. I think this is quote is true because you will find out who your friends are and aren’t and you get to be yourself. Everybody is there own person there is not two people the same. So by being yourself you could find people who want to be friends with you without being fake. That also a reason why Dr. Suess was so famous because he was always acting like himself. There was not a moment of the day he was not acting like himself. You should always say what you feel because a lot of good things come out of it. This quote also relates to real life situations too because everybody has their own personalities and everybody is different. So I think he is saying you should always be yourself no matter what.

  18. Dr.Seuss once said ”Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.”I think what Dr.Seuss is trying to say is for people to learn that you should be yourself no matter what anyone else thinks. It means that you should hang around with friends that respect you for just the way you are.You shouldn’t hang around with people that don’t like how you look, act,or sound because your just hurting yourself by doing that.If you hang around with people like that you will be bullied a lot and you will never be able to make friends like that.Dr.Suess wants people to learn to stop being someone else and to be yourself cause you wont make true friends by being someone else and you wont achieve anything in life by being someone else.Even if you are unique and maybe even odd you should still be yourself because it is worse to not be your true self than it is to be yourself. An example of this quote in life is that people all over the world try and be somebody else.At a workplace someone will try to be the the perfect employee even if they are a horrible employee and not a very nice person.Or it could be at school when someone is trying to act cool so he or she can become popular even though the person that is trying to become popular is odd and doesn’t have any friends. The point is for both of these people, their goal at trying to be someone else will never work out.It wont work out because once people realize they are faking their personalities people will begin to not like them or trust them. Dr.Seuss said this quote so people will be able to make friends with people that will like them,as individuals won't be offended if someone makes fun of their appearance, personality, voice, mannerisms, race, etc. This is a quote that we all should take seriously as it will help you make friends and learn how to become a good, upstanding, trustworthy person in life.

This quote means that you should always care for people if you think it is right. No matter what is happening you should always help somebody as long as it feels right. People that think judging matter and that's what makes you who you are don't matter in your life because they are not nice and aren't caring for other people. If you do respectful things for other people they will give you respect in return for doing something nice for them.
For example, if somebody was bullying somebody or was criticizing them on how they looked then afterwards i would go up to the victim and support them as much as I would be able to because I think it would be right and that it would matter and make a difference in them. When you do something for somebody, not only will you think that it matters but they will think that it matters. Also, if people judge you on the way that you dress or look or even on your beliefs of something, then they are truly not your friend. On the other hand though, people who say you look nice or support you for who you actually are are considered a friend. Judging doesn't matter because those who don't judge are friends and care about you and want to to have a happy life. This quote truly has a lot of meaning and can be thought back on when encountering a situation like this.

Judging doesn”t matter because those who don't judge are friends and care about you and want to to have a happy life. This quote truly has a lot of meaning and can be thought back on when encountering a situation like this.

  24. Dr. Suess once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” I think this means that the people who matter to you shouldn’t mind because they should support your decision, and the ones who mind shouldn’t matter to you because they don’t support you. I can relate to this, in many situations. One situation I can relate to is when I was in middle school and I didn’t want to run track because I wanted to focus on travel soccer. My mom was cool with it, she was happy I wanted to focus on soccer and not over work myself. Same thing with my dad, he was fine with me not running track. Although the girls I weren’t really friends with, they kept nagging me to come out and run track. They weren’t really close with me, and didn’t have that big of an impact in my life. They didn’t really matter to me, so it didn’t really bother me that they were mad, or upset I didn’t run track. I didn’t really care about their opinions on me running track. I am not a track runner, and I said that to my parents who matter, and they don’t mind.

  25. Dr. Suess once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” I think this means that you should speak your mind no matter how you feel because the people who matter to you won’t care what you say and won’t mind. However, those who mind what you say don’t matter because they are going against what you say and are likely trying to bring you down so they only have a negative effect on you. If you say what you feel is right the important people won’t mind but the unimportant people will mind. people should not deter you from saying what is on your mind, if they do it is likely they are only bringing you down so they don’t matter. If someone who does matter disagrees with what you have to say, they will not deter you from saying it they will suggest something better. The important people only try to help you out and make you a better person. However, the less important people will try to bicker with you about whatever you say, but you have to just ignore those people. In conclusion “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don't matter”.

  26. Dr. Suess once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” What Dr. Suess means by his quote is that be yourself, be confident and don’t change for others that don’t matter to you. The person who doesn’t matter who wants you to change motivates me and makes me even more determined to be the person I am. Those who matter, know who I am and encourage me to continue to be my best. Always believe in yourself and speak up for what you believe in. You are your own person and there is no reason to change for somebody who doesn’t matter. Believing in yourself allows you to act as you feel and how you act to others. By someone saying negative comments about you doesn’t mean you change. They need to change because their bad character will not help their personality. Being self confident is the best way to find out who you are. Being you is the best person there can be. No one has the right to change you. All in all, people can judge you but it is only you that can make a change. That change comes from being confident and knowing you are making the right decisions for yourself.

  27. The quote “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter” by Dr. Suess means that you should be yourself and say what’s on your mind. The people that matter in your life and who care about you won’t mind who you are. People who do mind what you say and feel shouldn’t matter. I have a personal experience that supports Dr. Suess’s quote. There was a time when I had made plans with a friend. When I showed up at her house she had lots of excuses for why we needed to cancel them. There seemed to be many holes in her stories and also seemed inconsistent. As I listened to her excuses, it became more apparent she was not telling me the truth. It was at that point when I realized I would challenge what she was saying and told her how I felt. She was shocked and she stuttered in her responses to me. She eventually came clean and confessed that she made other plans. I went back to my house in disbelief. I spent the night reflecting upon our friendship and thought about not being friends anymore. The next day at lunch my friend was so upset about what she had done, she apologize profusely. It was at that point I realized that I matter to her and she mattered to me. I was able to tell my friend how I felt and because I matter to her, she didn’t mind I told her how I felt.

  28. Josh, I agree with your response to the quote that you should just be the bigger person and ignore anyone who judges or verbally abuses you. They shouldn't matter if they can't accept you for who you are; they're not important. People who do accept you or as you said "are respectful of your values" should matter. I really concur with your opinion and everything you said.

  29. Dr. Seuss once said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” This quote is a very meaningful quote. This quote tells you to always be yourself and say what you are thinking because those people in your life that care about you will not have anything against what you say. Meanwhile, the people that will have something to say against you, will not matter at all. This quote in shorter terms means that you should be yourself because the people you should hang out with are the people who would actually care about you, and that you should not worry about the fact of other people who do care because who cares what other people think? This can definitely be related to a real life situation. This is basically something a lot of parents say to their children, but really none of them listen. They all feel the urge to fit in instead of being their selves. Meanwhile when they finally get the chance to fit in, they don’t really enjoy it because they have to act fake most of the time. So what is the point of trying to fit in if you won’t even enjoy it? Why go through the hassle of trying to become popular if you won’t even care for it by the time you are over and done with it.
