Live & Learn and Pass It On: "I Have Learned. . . "
As the year come to a close, I would like to share one last piece of literature with you.  Below you will find The Dash Poem by Linda Ellis- one of my favorites.  Read and consider the poem carefully- the simple message is definitely thought provoking. .  . after you’ve finished reading, respond to the prompt below.

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.
-
He noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
-
For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth...
and now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.
-
For it matters not, how much we own;
the cars....the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
-
So think about this long and hard...
are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left.
(You could be at "dash midrange.")
-
If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
-
And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.
-
If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile...
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.
-
So, when your eulogy's being read
with your life's actions to rehash...
would you be proud of the things they
say about how you spend your dash?

Writing Prompt- Consider the title of this blog post “Live & Learn and Pass It On”.  Write about the most valuable lesson you have learned over the course of your life and share it in your response.  Explain how you came to learn this lesson and how it has changed your life.  Most importantly, think and write about this lesson will help you move foreword and do the most with your "dash".

  1. “Live & and learn and pass it on” something about the most valuable lesson I about the most valuable lesson in my life been about usually about school actually. When school is a place get and win education and become mature thru high school years. This is about my sophomore year second year of high school. When i had my freshman year and failed a lot classes still. And i didn't learn my lesson yet by then and took like high school as a joke still about my classes. When i was 14 and 15 still during those years in school year.

Freshman year was all fun and jokes i failed my classes. Barley went to class but always got told i will regret it to retake my classes and lose the credits didn't think it was that important. I was just 14 from 15 years old still was immature about school didn't try didn't care spend my days in disciplines and failing grades. Until school ended and was told i failed that's when i failed that class and have retake it next year. That honestly got me upset because that's when i started to care about for a little bit.

That's when i came to my sophomore year retaking my freshman classes again and then i started to pay attention at a point. And listen never skipped once. During my sophomore year but until the middle that's when i realized i still have a chance to pass because i gave up and started take it as a joke. Then i started focus listen pay attention until the end my teachers saw i was trying and i passed there class a few but until i actually pay attention and started pass my classes in my sophomore year in high school and felt little better.
But then comes my junior year with my classes got mid year already going. As i'm 17 now getting my thing done. Actually getting my credits back to be back on track with seniors next year. My lesson was learned that school can never a joke at all it's always going matter in my future. Then comes my senior year next year and hopefully starts easy because i've learned my lesson right after i changed my mind to school and lesson learned is school is going to be important always going be a reason of my future.
