"First of all, if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks.  You never really understand a person until you consider things form his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."

*Explain what you think this quote means?

* What does it mean to you personally? Give an example from your own life when you have seen yourself or someone else experience this.

This quote means that if you get to know someone much better and take their life and try to make it yours and be around for all the good and bad that they go through in their daily life then you will learn that you're life might be better or worst. You really need to be in someone elses shoes to know what they go through on a daily basis, and to get to know that persons inner thoughts and feelings. Honestly you would never get the chance to see or here what happens to people in their life because you are so focused on your own life that you are oblivious to what happens to others. Like if t=you think your life is bad/ or crappy maybe you should take the time out to actually go and see what happens in other peoples life! Honestly it kind of pisses me off when someone thinks that oh this person has this, this person has that. Well, honestly that persons life could suck! What goes on in their head is completely the opposite of what goes on in you're head! Also, I think that people often think they have it bad! When really they don't like they start wearing black or cutting themselves. That to me is stupid because my problems could be worst they just don't want to try and say oh I am going to kill myself to get attention! NO that isn't how it works. "All life is precious and people take that quote for granted they say things like I am going to die and really they don't understand what dying is like, I mean neither do I but at least I know that wanting to do something and doing something are two completely different things! I am not saying I have it rough, im not saying my life is hard all im saying is that some people cannot make obligations to certain people because sometimes people have other issues that they don't want to explain to anyone and they just want to hold those things in. Like I wish I could get certain things and blow money like crazy but I cant and some people can. I know some people who don't get much for Christmas but at least their family still loves them! Those rich people are rich with money I would rather have family because I have real people to talk to about my problems not just people who want money.

    1. I think the same because not everybody is the same and you can't judge someone when you don't know what's going on in their life.

    2. I had read your response to the quote and I do agree with what you're telling. Also I love how you put examples of the quote in your response. Also we had the same ideas when doing the blog

  2. "First of all, if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things form his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." I think this can mean a lot of different things depending on how you think about it. Personally, I think that this quote means that you cannot tell why somebody acts or talks the way they do until you are in their shoes. Also it can mean that you can't judge a book by its cover. Lastly, it can mean that you shouldn't make fun of somebody because of the way they act, look, or talk. We have all seen this in our personal lives many many times. We mostly see it in the media. We look up to these "role models" whose faces aren't even real. So next time you look at somebody and you're thinking that they're too skinny or their clothes are too tight you should think about what they went through to look like they do.

    1. I agree. You cannot judge a book by its cover. You never know what kind of life they have lived.

  3. The quote "First of all, if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things form his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." means that you don't really know a person unless you lived their life. Each person has their own life with their own problems and accomplishments. You cannot judge a person by their looks or the things they have. It takes more than one conversation to get to know a person. You should learn about the person before you make a opinion. Every person is different and no one is the same. Everyone has issues. No one person is perfect. For example you might think a person who is rich has no problems. That their life is perfect. But underneath maybe their Dad left, or they never see their parents. To me personally this quote reminds me of a time during the storm. I had to go to another school for a little while and the kids and teachers were always saying how sorry they were for me. They judged me by an event. I didn't feel sad or sorry. I felt happy that my family and animals were safe. I thought we were lucky. The things lost were only material items. So I believe before you judge or form a opionion about a person, you need to take the time to talk to a person and get to know the person.

You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."This quote to me means that if you don’t get to know a person you won’t get to know if their truly an awesome or amazing person they are. Don’t judge a book by its cover until you get to know them. In my experience this has happened many times for me because I always judge someone by their cover, I’m never not like that. I do get to know them after a while then i’m fine with them, it's just my first approach.

  5. "First of all, if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it”.That is a really meaningful quote and it is still very relatable in today's society. I think that this quote means that you cannot tell why somebody acts or talks the way they do until you are in their shoes. So you should never pass on judgement to other people because you don't know what people have gone through. Also it can mean that you can't judge a book by its cover. It takes more than one time meeting a person, to get to know a person. You should learn about the individual and find out what they have gone through before you make a opinion. For example if you see someone in a very bad mood because maybe there parents are getting a divorce or someone in there family passed or something and they have an attitude, you should not judge them because they are going through stuff right now. That's what you should always do, but if I’m being honest I don't do that often at all. I'm usually quick to pass judgment, and I don't take into consideration what the other person has gone through. So that's something that I need to work on so that I can become a more considerate and nicer person. Sometimes I see the judgement of others all around me. It can be in all forms or situations. Not understanding a person, and their circumstances can lead to laughing behind their back by a group of others. This can also lead to bullying. One of the worst forms of not understanding a person. This can have extremely devastating results for an individual no one takes the time to understand. Scout’s father was a very understanding and kind man. He always showed compassion, and respect to all of the people he worked with, those who worked for him, and the clients he represented on a daily basis. This is the way he hoped Scout would follow in how she judged and treated people in her lifetime.

  6. This quote basically means to never judge a book by its cover. You can never fully judge a person until you know what happens to them from their point of view. Especially in school, you should never make fun of anyone in any type of way because you don't know what they go through at home or what kind of things they deal with on a daily basis. Some people get put into a better mood if you say a simple hi to them because they aren't used to having people nice to them. Never take your life for granted because many people surrounding you have things going on in their lives that you might not be able to handle. Before judging someone try to walk around in their shoes and take things from their point of view. Saying one mean thing can add to all the stress they have in the lives that will aide them to blow up. Saying one nice thing to someone can easily make their day. You don't even have to talk, hold a door, help them with something and they can really look up to you. Everybody has different things going on at home and some people can't handle the stress added on from mean people at school. Everybody has a different style and you can't judge someone for what they're wearing because they can be judging you as well and you might not even know it. Never judge someone if you don't know their background life. Give people a chance and get to know them before you open your mouth and say something negative.

  8. This quote means to me is that you don't understand a person's way of thinking until you see the way they see it. It means until you see how they see things you won't fully understand how they're thinking , how there personally is, or what their feelings are. For the last part of the quote until you climb into his skin and walk around in it. It means you have to experience what they do in their everyday lives. Each person has their own life with their own problems and accomplishments. You cannot judge a person by their looks or the things they have. You should learn about the person before you make a opinion. Every person is different and no one is the same. Everyone has issues. No one person is perfect. Before judging someone try to walk around in their shoes and take things from their point of view.Personally, I think that this quote means that you cannot tell why somebody acts or talks the way they do until you are in their shoes. One time when i was younger I had moved into a new school. And I didn't know anyone and the reason why I had moved is because my house got ruined during the storm. No one knew what I was feeling because they didn't experience what I was going threw so they couldn't understand my pain. I was depressed for a very long time and no one knew the whole time. So I can relate to the quote that was given and yes it is very difficult to understand someone's’ feelings and the way they think but it is possible if you try hard enough.
